SSI Hunt and Collect

This course is designed as a practical, fun, high-involvement learning experience with three objectives:

  1. To make the participants knowledgeable in seafood species identification
  2. How to capture seafood with the appropriate equipment such as spear guns, and catch bags
  3. How to prepare and cook your seafood

You will learn about fishing regulations such as the Marine Reserves Act 1971 which ensures sustainability of New Zealands diverse range of marine species.

And also the Historic Places Act 1993 that ensures that high interest items such as wrecks, artifacts and other places of historical or cultural significance are preserved for divers to enjoy for years to come.
