NZQA Qualification: Certificate in Master Diving Level 4
SSI Ratings: SSI Open Water Diver, SSI Specialty Certification x 9 (inc SSI Diver Stress and Rescue Speciality), SSI Dive Control Specialist
Prerequisites: You must be at least 16 years of age, and have a current Fitness to Dive Medical issued by a physician
Course Duration: 15 weeks Full-Time or 34 weeks Part-Time

4 Quick Facts about the Master Diver Programme:

  1. The programme includes 50 logged Dives
  2. This course is NZQA approved as a Quality Assured Level 4 Qualification
  3. Full-time option
    • The duration of the Full-time course is 15 weeks Full-Time (Full-time = minimum of 3 days per week, minimum of 20 hours contact time per week, plus home study time)
    • You are eligible to apply for Student Allowances through StudyLink
    • The Adventure Education Advanced Sea Adventurer programme is a prerequisite for this Full-Time option
  4. Part-Time option
    • The duration of the Part-time course is 34 weeks Part-Time (Part-time = maximum of 20 hours contact time per week, plus home study time)
    • You are not eligible to apply for Student Allowances through StudyLink

What You Will Learn:

  • Scuba dive and perform rescues in open water to a maximum depth of 18 metres
  • Navigate prescribed routes underwater
  • Perform diver rescues
  • Complete night dives
  • Complete underwater search and recovery dives
  • Complete a wreck dive
  • Complete deep dives between 18 and 40 metres, and perform tasks
  • Hunt and collect pre-selected objects underwater
  • Complete a dive off a boat
  • Complete a shore dive
  • Fill dive cylinders
  • Recognise diving related ill health conditions
  • Supervise and control dive operations
  • Instruct clients in Snorkel Diving
